A lot of homes just lack the correct amount of ventilation. Just because a house has vents on the roof doesn’t mean it has the correct amount of ventilation.
The proper home ventilation equation is 1 inch of exit ventilation to every 2 inches. of soffit ventilation. Of course, this works for passive ventilation. With a power fan, the equation is simply on the box the power vent came in. Usually pulling air at 1,500 sqft. – 2,500 sqft. per unit.
As a precaution, it is always good to walk around your attic and look for anything that could be obstructing the ventilation of your roof.
